Social Security Cost Of Living Adjustments (COLAs)

Social Security recipients will receive a 2.4% COLA in January 2000. The amount of earnings necessary to be credited with a Social Security qualifying quarter in 2000 is $780. This is the amount of earnings needed by a noncitizen to be credited with a qualifying credit toward the 40-credit requirement for Food Stamp eligibility purposes.
