Reference: Welfare and Institutions Code (W&IC) §12400, AB 1278

AB 1278 added a provision under which certain Filipino World War II veterans could become eligible for state-funded benefits if they returned to the Philippines to live. Although the CVCB program is state-funded, it will be administered by the Social Security Administration in conjunction with the federal Special Veterans Benefit (SVB) program.

Counties are instructed to refer any person inquiring about this program to the local Social Security Administration office. Since the federal government administers this program, there is no right to a state hearing in this program.
