Mental Health Decisions

All mental health issues must be written as proposed decisions regardless of whether the order is a grant, denial or dismissal. These proposed decisions should be forwarded to Teri Barthels. Ms. Barthels’ fax number is (916) 654-5591.

There is an Ombudsman Services telephone number to assist clients with Medi-Cal mental health services. That number is (800) 896-4042. For TTY the number is (800) 896-2512. Translation services are available.

Persons enrolled in a mental health plan can call the ombudsman to receive help with their Mental Health Plan services. Ombudsman services provide information on how the system works. These services include explaining a person’s rights and choices, solving problems to assist a person to obtain the services he/she needs, assisting in communication between parties to resolve disagreements, requesting information on behalf of persons who call the ombudsman and referring callers to other persons for help.
