Provides a question and answer format concerning responsible relatives in Medi-Cal. This letter establishes that (1) a legally separated couple living in the same home must be in the same MFBU; (2) a child between ages 18-21 living in the home with his/her parents must be in the same MFBU as his/her parents even if the child is not claimed as a tax dependent by his/her parents; (3) a grandparent living in the same home as the parent of an aided child cannot be linked to Medi-Cal as a caretaker relative; (4) an unmarried father does not have to be in the same MFBU as the mother or his unborn child or child under age one as long as he has no other mutual children in the home; (5) the AFDC foster care parent may be linked to Medi-Cal as a caretaker relative; and (6) the separate child of a spouse may receive Medi-Cal even if the stepparent refuses to cooperate with the county.
