| Item 98-03-02J CDHS ACWDL 97-57 -- December 8, 1997 (Synopsis): Redetermination of Benefits for Refugees |
Refugees are to have their eligibility for Medi-Cal benefits redetermined prior to any discontinuance action. Counties should evaluate, based on information in the case file, whether any other basis for eligibility for Medi-Cal exists. If the county is unable to determine whether there is another basis for Medi-Cal eligibility, the county should request the refugee supply additional information as needed. If the refugee fails to provide the requested information within a reasonable time, the county should then discontinue Medi-Cal benefits.
Refugees are eligible for Edwards transitional benefits when discontinued from Refugee Cash Assistance or Entrant Cash Assistance until the Medi-Cal redetermination is completed.
