Item 98-03-02K
CDHS ACWDL 97-64 -- December 19, 1997 (Synopsis): Child/Medical Support/Paternity Declaration

Effective January 1, 1998, there are new program requirements for Child/Medical Support Enforcement. These new changes must be implemented by counties no later than March 1, 1998.

These changes include:

The District Attorney (D.A.) will make determinations whether an applicant or beneficiary has cooperated in identifying the absent parent, securing medical support and determining paternity. The county will determine whether there was good cause for not cooperating.

W&IC §14008.7 was added to state that if an applicant or beneficiary does not cooperate without good cause in identifying an absent parent, securing medical support and determining paternity, such applicant or beneficiary will be ineligible for Medi-Cal.

This ACWDL explains good cause determination requirements and states what evidence is needed to support a good cause claim.
