The Special Circumstances Program provides limited vendor or cash payments to SSI/SSP recipients for certain emergency situations such as repair of household furniture, equipment supplies or clothing lost in a catastrophe; necessary moving expenses; required housing repairs and payment to prevent foreclosure. The Special Circumstances program regulations were repealed in 1992 due to state budget cuts. Those regulations were reinstated effective August 21, 1998, and are found at MPP Section 46-425. The regulations are unchanged from those in effect prior to their repeal in 1992. A copy of these regulations is attached to ACL 98-74.
