The Transition Age Youth Conference is a one-day event that will be held on February 26, 2019 to bring together transition age youth and professionals from across the state for collaboration. According to the National Youth in Transition Database (NYTD) first cohort data brief, which measures Independent Living Program delivered services and outcomes of transition age youth, remaining challenges for this population include financial self-sufficiency, educational attainment, adult connections, homelessness, and high risk outcomes. The basis of these challenges provides a variety of stakeholders, social workers, educators, youth, and other professionals the opportunity to build community partnerships, while sharing ideas and information about best practices to improve foster youth outcomes. This year's conference theme, "The Three Pillars of Success: Balancing Physical, Mental, and Social Well-being" addresses the whole person to promote long-term development and success. The conference is hosted by the California Department of Social Services and the Child & Family Policy Institute of California.

The conference will include two educational tracks for attendees, one for youth and one for agency staff/community partners, to offer a wide variety of workshops focused on services and resources for transition aged youth. We are especially interested in having youth attend the conference, please spread the word and encourage the youth you work with to register. We are offering 25 youth scholarships to assist with the expenses of the conference. The scholarship application will be available October 1, 2019. Don't wait...
