Economic Impact Payments (EIPs)

As of March 27, 2020, eligible adults in California can receive a one-time payment to help with everyday expenses. Millions of Americans have already received their Economic Impact Payments, so don’t miss out on yours!

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides for Economic Impact Payments to American households of up to $1,200 per adult for individuals whose income was less than $99,000 (or $198,000 for joint filers) and $500 per child under 17 years old. This is up to $3,400 for a family of four. These payments do not impact CalWORKs or CalFresh eligibility or benefits!

The payments, issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and referred to by some as “stimulus payments,” are automatic for most taxpayers. No further action is needed by taxpayers who filed tax returns for 2018 and 2019 tax years and those who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Railroad Retirement, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits.

California Department of Social Services (CDSS) aims to help clients, the public, and community organizations utilize the resources provided both by the IRS and the Franchise Tax Board (FTB). We have assembled resources in the links to the right for those seeking more information and assistance.
