What is a governance structure?
The purpose of a project governance structure is to provide a framework for the decision-making process.It is a structured approach to conducting both daily business activities and when implementing new projects.
Why is it important to implement a governance structure?
The governance structure set standards, it is an avenue to review performance data (specifically FFPS Program data), it creates a process for adjustments when trends show areas of concern, and it is a way to oversee and monitor corrective action plans.
Description of the FFPS Program Governance Structure
The FFPS Program Governance Structure is based on existing structures and is dependent on existing relationships. The governance structure includes with the State agencies (CHHS, CDSS and DHCS and DOF and adds a State Prevention Advisory Committee, recognize the role of tribal sovereignty and the government-to-government relationship, and informs the legislature.
The state implementation body includes CDSS and DHCS staff, technical assistance providers and the Office of Tribal Affairs. This implementation body is directly engaging and informed through tribal consultation and the tribal engagement process.
Additionally, the Prevention Advisory Committee and ad hoc groups will be consulted to provide feedback to ensure polices developed and guidance for local implementation is useful and supports the work of local county cross-sector collaboratives.
