Family's Verbal Communication Preference (CDD-801A Only)

This refers to the language the family prefers for spoken communication with program staff, such as during meetings, phone calls, or conferences. If the family prefers multiple languages, note all applicable.

Where to Find It:

Indicated on the child’s Family Language and Interest Interview or discussed with the family during a meeting regarding the child’s dual language learner (DLL) designation.

Rules and Guidelines

  • This field is only required for center-based CCTR and center-based CMIG programs. All other programs must leave blank.
  • This information field is required.
  • This field must contain at least 2 characters. Example: 02, 04, etc.
  • Leading zero must be included.
  • See list of language codes on CCD-26 Confidential Application for Child Development Services and Certification of Eligibility form, Section IV Data on Children Column 8: Native Language Codes.
  • Do not include a space between multiple codes.
  • This field must be left blank during non-DLL reporting months.
  • When inputting multiple codes, separate each with a comma.

  • What do I report if there is more than one preferred communication preference
    • Report each preferred communication preference, separated by a comma. 
  • What do I report if the child’s DLL Designation is reported as non-DLL?
    • If the DLL Designation is reported as: 2: Non-DLL; 4: Parent Opt-Out; or 5 Not Yet Designated, this field may be left blank.
