Language(s) Proficient In – Lead Teacher and/or Program Staff (CDD-801A Only)
This refers to the languages in which the lead teacher and/or program staff can communicate effectively. This includes both spoken and written proficiency. Proficiency should be self-reported or assessed based on the ability to: (1) Hold conversations with children and families; (2) Understand and respond appropriately in the language; and (3) Use the language in instructional or caregiving settings.
Where to Find It
There may not be a centralized location to find this information, each program may be different as each lead teacher and program staff may speak different languages and have that information stored in various locations.
Rules and Guidelines
- This field is only required for center-based CCTR and center-based CMIG programs. All other programs must leave blank.
- This information field is required.
- This field must contain at least 2 characters. Example: 02, 04, etc.
- Leading zero must be included.
- See list of language codes on CCD-26 Confidential Application for Child Development Services and Certification of Eligibility form, Section IV Data on Children Column 8: Native Language Codes.
- When inputting multiple codes, separate each with a comma.
- Do not include a space between multiple codes.
- This field must be left blank during non-DLL reporting months.

- How would one determine proficiency in a language?
- If the lead teacher or program staff can speak enough words to successfully communicate with a child (such as directions or instructions), they would be proficient in that language.
