Those who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) could soon be eligible to receive CalFresh food benefits, according to the Glenn County Health and Human Services Department.

Beginning June 1, SSI recipients may be eligible for CalFresh food benefits.

CalFresh helps people with low-income buy food and recipients can buy food at any grocery store or famers market that accepts EBT.

To find out if one is eligible, call or visit the local county office, complete an application by phone, online or in person; complete an interview but phone or in person; and provide proof of income and expenses if needed.

The county will determine a person’s eligibility within 30 days.

CalFresh will not change or reduce one’s SSI/SSP amounts.
