2022 Income Tax Return Filing

Attention Californians:

Español

The California Department of Social Services 2022 Income Tax Return Filing page provides program recipients information and resources for tax refunds and credits to which they are eligible.

The Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit are important tax benefits that can help provide eligible tax filers a significant income boost. While the temporary expansions to these tax credits have ended, the credits continue to provide valuable support to thousands of households. Listed below are the available credits and description that are available to eligible Californians.

Available Credits

The Child Tax Credit helps families with qualifying children get a tax break. You may be able to claim the credit even if you do not normally file a tax return. Learn more by clicking on the “Claim the Child Tax Credit” icon.

The Federal and State Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) helps low- to moderate-income workers and families get a tax break. If you qualify, you can use the credit to reduce the taxes you owe – and maybe increase your refund. Learn more by clicking on the “Claim the Earned Income Tax Credit” icon.

If you are a County Welfare Department or a Community Based Organization, help your clients and the public with the multiple resources available to help with tax information and how to file taxes for free. Learn more by clicking on the “Claim the Tax Resources” icon.
