Disaster Volunteer Programs
The CDSS leads California Emergency Support Function 6 (CA-ESF 6): Mass Care and Shelter for disaster response. In support, the Disaster Services Branch (DSB) oversees the Volunteer Emergency Services Team (VEST) Program and the Functional Assessment Service Team (FAST) Program. These programs offer state employees the opportunity to join a strong community of volunteers focused on assisting their fellow Californians when most needed.
