CalFresh E&T Program Development

Purpose:

CalFresh E&T is a voluntary program that is administered through program administrators. Program administrators include County Welfare Departments (CWDs), tribes, tribal organizations, and state partners. The Program Development unit ensures programs provide effective services that support participant during their time in the CalFresh E&T program.

Annual Plan

Program administrators design their own programs by choosing program activities, participant supportive services, and selecting partners. Program administrators are required to outline their programs every year by submitting an Annual Plan.

The Program Development unit monitors and reviews each CalFresh E&T plan to ensure it meets all program requirements. Once approved, it becomes part of the CDSS CalFresh E&T Annual State Plan, which is then submitted to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for approval. CalFresh E&T program administrators cannot implement programs until California’s state plan has been approved by the FNS.

Partnership Forums

CalFresh E&T hosts Partnership Forums to highlight opportunities, resources, and program trends. Program administrators and other program partners, like non-profit service providers, community colleges, and policy advocates are encouraged to join to learn more about the program.

Annual Training

CalFresh E&T hosts an Annual Training with established or prospective program administrators. The intent of the Annual Training is to connect program administrators to additional resources, highlight projects throughout the year, and provide training on recent regulation changes. If your county, tribe or tribal organization would like more information, please contact us via email at CalFreshEandT@dss.ca.gov.
