CalFresh Employment and Training (CalFresh E&T) is a program for people who get CalFresh benefits. The program helps people get the training, education and work experience needed to get a job. CalFresh E&T is a voluntary program, meaning you do not have to enroll in CalFresh E&T to get CalFresh benefits.

Eligibility details

To be able to participate in a CalFresh E&T program, you must live in a county where CalFresh E&T is offered, and:

• Receive CalFresh benefits
• Be at least 16 years old
• Not be subject to work requirements under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, known in California as the California Work Opportunity Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program

If you are unsure if you get CalFresh benefits, you can check your account in Benefits Cal, contact your local county office, or call the CalFresh helpline at 1-877-847-3663.

Remember - you must also live in a county where CalFresh E&T is offered. Because CalFresh E&T is voluntary, not every county offers a CalFresh E&T program. CalFresh E&T is offered in the following counties:
