Kid's Day at the Capitol April 2018
The Office of Child Abuse Prevention (OCAP) celebrated Child
Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month throughout April by hosting several events and
activities, including a fundraiser for the State Children’s Fund, Children’s
Memorial Flag Exhibit, a showcase of blue ribbons and pinwheels in our
building, and a banner display at the State Capitol. Additionally, the
OCAP and the Child Abuse Prevention Center hosted Kid’s Day at the Capitol,
bringing together organizations from across California who share a common goal
that no child suffers from abuse or neglect.
More than 50 organizations and businesses joined us for
Kid’s Day at the Capitol and we welcomed hundreds of attendees comprised of
parents, children, teachers and other family service providers. The day’s
agenda included guest speakers, performances and various activities for
children and families. This was one of many efforts by the OCAP and the Child
Abuse Prevention Center to inspire leaders and encourage community and civic
responsibility, because when families, friends, and neighbors support one
another while working toward a common goal, children are healthier and safer.
We are thrilled to have co-hosted such a successful event and we would like to
thank all of our participants and attendees.
We would like to thank you all for your work to promote CAP
Month within your communities! It’s the hard work and dedication from people
like you across the state that makes all the difference in the lives of
children and families.
